June 2020 Wines

July 1, 2020

June has been a whirlwind of a month. Restrictions have been lifting on stay-at-home orders, and then almost immediately they were being put back in place as virus cases shot up. There is a lot of discord related to the wearing and not wearing of masks. People are making a real effort and showing up for the Black Lives Matter movement. June also marks the summer solstice as well as National Rosé Day. My husband ran a 100-mile race in less than 24 hours, and I tried three different Rosés. We’ve got some different priorities. Haha! May 2020 Wines

June 3, 2020

Another month has gone by. I think people are finally settling into this quarantine/social distancing zone. I’ve started seeing many more people observing the distancing rules and wearing masks when in public. As summer creeps in though, it’s starting to feel like more of a loss. The weather is nice and there’s an increased feeling of the need to be outside and around others. It’s a good thing there is good wine to distract us with! I’m hoping most everyone has a place they can enjoy the outdoors though. Kirkland Signature 2019 Rosé – Rating 4/5 This wine was from…

Reginato Malbec Rosé

Reginato Malbec Rosé paired with Salami & Provolone
September 11, 2019

The end of summer was upon us, but that doesn’t mean the Rosé had to stop flowing! This bottle is just what I needed to kiss summer goodbye with. It was still nice and warm outside, so I was able to enjoy this one out on the deck and soak in the last little bit of sun and shiny lake views. This sparkling Rosé was packaged in a lovely bottle that had my hands itching to open it up. Malbec is not the most popular grape to make Rosé with. Grenache, Sangiovese, and Syrah are the more common styles. However,…

Gateway Vinho Verde Rosé

Gateway Vinho Verde Rosé paired with Pad Thai
July 17, 2019

Time for another rosé week! With all of the traveling around that my husband and I had done recently, we did not have the energy to cook. We knew just what the future held and that was Pad Thai from our favorite Thai place, Bua 9. If you’re ever visiting Seattle, I highly recommend stopping in or getting your own takeout order from this little restaurant in the Columbia City neighborhood. Since I could wax poetic about my love for Rosé endlessly, but I’m sure no one would relish in reading that, I started my research with the origin of…

RAW Rosé

RAW Rosé paired with Prosciutto-Wrapped Mozzarella and Fruit
June 5, 2019

On the cusp of a three-day weekend I was more than happy to see a Rosé on deck for this week’s wine. With the label, this one was giving off edgy vibes, which got me pumped up for the research behind it. RAW stands for “Really Awesome Wines.”  RAW creates wines in partnership with Bodegas Latúe. This wine cooperative operates in Spain and specializes in organic and vegan wines. The cooperative started in 1954 and currently operates with 131 wine growers. The working goals of the cooperative are to provide economic and social sustainability for their relatively small community. * One…

Maison Marcel Rosé

Maison Marcel Rosé paired with Milk Sea Salt Caramel Truffles
January 16, 2019

Another day, another rosé, or at least that’s how I hope my life plays out. If they all come in such beautiful bottles as this one, then even better! What can I say? Of course I was excited for more rosé! I’m glad we all seem to be agreeing that it’s not just for summer anymore. This wine was a blend of 55% Muscat, 30% Grenache, 10% White Muscat, and 5% Merlot. The grapes were grown in the Aix en Provence region in France, which is known for producing Rosé. It is the second largest region in Provence, lucky for…

Gia Coppola #Overit Rosé

Gia Coppola #Overit Rosé paired with Bacon Wrapped Asparagus & Green Beans
September 6, 2018

It seems only fitting that I should be writing about a rosé just as summer comes to a close. It’s been quite a fun-filled and busy summer this year. We’ve moved across the country, discovered new foods and local places, been visited by some of our best friends and family, and made lots of new friends as well. Thank goodness we had some good rosé along for the ride. This wine came from the hashtag collection of wines created by Gia Coppola and the winemakers at Francis Ford Coppola Winery. This collection of wines was said to, “be inspired by…

Eikendal Vineyards Rosé

December 4, 2017

Being that it was mid-summer, I was more than a little excited to have a rosé on deck for this week. The heat was settling into Dallas fiercely and a rosé was just what I needed to quench my thirst and cool me down. I was also excited to try this particular rosé, because Wine Awesomeness was advertising it quite a bit and even allowing mid-day deliveries of it in Manhattan. To tell the truth, I was pretty jealous I did not live in Manhattan this week. After simply going through the Eikendal Vineyards website, I noticed how this vineyard…

Iconic Wine Secret Identity Rosé

December 4, 2017

With summer now in full swing in Texas and temperatures rising to above 100°F, I was so happy to see a bottle of rosé in my box this month. Just looking at it made me feel a bit cooler already. I’m not sure if there is something going on the industry that is trying to make a special push for rosé, but I know that I’ve been seeing it everywhere recently. Now that summer has hit, store shelves seem dedicated to this varietal. It’s light. It’s fun. And most importantly, it’s delicious! You can drink it alone or you can…
