Maison Marcel Rosé

Maison Marcel Rosé paired with Milk Sea Salt Caramel Truffles

Another day, another rosé, or at least that’s how I hope my life plays out. If they all come in such beautiful bottles as this one, then even better! What can I say? Of course I was excited for more rosé! I’m glad we all seem to be agreeing that it’s not just for summer anymore.

This wine was a blend of 55% Muscat, 30% Grenache, 10% White Muscat, and 5% Merlot. The grapes were grown in the Aix en Provence region in France, which is known for producing Rosé. It is the second largest region in Provence, lucky for us. Cabernet Sauvignon is also a common wine to the area.*

The winery boasts a fascinating tale about the original idea behind their Rosé. They claim that the winemaker’s grandfather created the wine because his grandmother claimed she hated all Rosé. He developed this wine; she tried it, and fell in love with it and his grandfather.* True or not, it’s a lovely story nonetheless and any love that starts with good wine is sure to last right?

This wine was from Provence, France and sampled on October 26, 2018. I was listening to “Bisou Bisou” by Jessica Paré because it put me in a more French mood. I took in the smell of white peaches and tender melon. There was also a floral character in the scent. The first taste was sweet, but not overly so thanks to a meatiness that it also held. It tasted like a yellow peach on an end of summer day. It was absolutely divine with the milk sea salt caramel truffles. A match made in heaven.

I gave this wine a rating of 5.0.Now that winter has really set in, I’m thinking back on this wine and really missing it and all the promises of summer it held. I may have to procure some more!
