Sento Bene Wines Primitivo

March 28, 2018

The month of March really was taking on that old motto and coming in right like a lion. With a nor’easter sweeping over the northeast US and the rain not letting up here in the South, it was beginning to feel like spring would never really come. Fortunately, the next wine in my lineup was a delightful looking red. It was just what I needed to combat this groundhog-despising mood. I had not heard of the Primitivo grape before so I started my research there. I quickly discovered that Primitivo and Zinfandel are the same grape! Primitivo is grown in…

Yardstick Wines Red Blend

Yardstick Wines Red Blend
March 14, 2018

Here was another Lekker labeled wine for this week as well! This time it was a full on red blend. I had not been too impressed with the chenin blanc from last week, but for some reason this nice looking red was calling out to me. Maybe it was the fact that it was the last day of February. The month of love and the last of the winter months were coming to an end and it felt like this might be just the wine to bid it adieu with. This wine was made in partnership with the winery Yardstick…

It just sounded fun and maybe a little fruity, just like how this wine looked with it’s citrusy gleam and contrasting sky blue label. My expectations were runny mighty high at this point. This was my second Lekker labeled wine. The first one hit it out of the park. This wine was made of 100% chenin blanc grapes. Chenin Blanc originated in…

Eikendal Vineyards Rouge

Eikendal Vineyards Rouge paired with Thai-Style Turkey Stir-Fry
March 1, 2018

Is it silly to say that I was simply excited about this wine because the word ‘rouge’ was in the name? Haha! I didn’t think so either! It reminded me of how my grandmother referred to blush and how much she hated it when she saw other women wearing what she thought was too much of it. I giggled to myself. This was my second wine from Eikendal Vineyards. The first was a rosé that I tried in July of 2017 and had rated a 4.5. This red was not part of the “Lekker” line as the rosé was, which…
